A seasonal cafe on the shores of Lake Superior with indoor and outdoor dining. Committed to the concept of sustainability, this restaurant offers organic choices, buys wind power, and purchases from local providers whenever possible. You will not find brand name soda because they make their own!

The Gunflint Tavern

This restaurant and bar overlooking Lake Superior’s harbor has great eclectic food, microbrews, wines and spirits. Set in an old bank building the atmosphere is great and provides an old table made from boards of a bowling alley and the cooler is actually the old walk-in bank vault. State Park Info

The North Shore is home to eight different Minnesota State Parks. These parks offer tourists a beautiful look at the North Shore scenery and occasionally a glimpse at some wildlife too. All of the parks have hiking trails, picnic spots and some of the parks have events. These parks are a great spot to stop at on your way up the North Shore of Lake Superior or make a lovely day trip.

Boundary Waters Info

Experience nature in the BWCAW 1.3 million acres of forest. A day trip is a North Shore must. There’s a good chance you’ll see wildlife along the drive! This area has great hikes and lots of lakes to do a day canoe or kayak trip. There are outfitters in the area to rent canoes and kayaks from if you do not have your own.

Sawbill Canoe Outfitters

This small family run outfitter is a great stop for many of our vacation rentals in Lutsen, Tofte and Schroeder. Jump into the BWCAW from Sawbill Lake up the Sawbill Trail or go to other lakes in the area. Take a paddle into the wilderness and enjoy a day of quiet enjoyment. Rent canoes and life vests and meet some great local friends. Steve, our owner and a former Sawbill employee, recommends the Kelso Loop which takes you to 3 lakes and can be done in 1 day.
