Top 10 Things You Don’t Want to Miss at Fisherman’s Picnic

North Shore Fishing

Fishing the North ShoreGiven that it is home to the largest body of freshwater in the world, there are plenty of spots to fish on the North Shore!

Options include fishing on Lake Superior, its tributaries, or on number of the inland lakes and streams that hold a variety of different fish. Lake Superior is best known for its lake trout and salmon, the streams are perfect for trout and salmon, and the inland lakes hold a ton of walleye, small-mouth bass, northern pike, and perch. If you have a boat, perfect, otherwise there are plenty of fishing guides or boat rentals available for you to purchase.

Great spots to fish without a boat are:

Hogback Lake (40 acre lake located close to Isabella, MN): Accessible fishing pier perfect for rainbow trout and splake. From Hwy 61 MM 60, drive north on the MN Hwy 1 for 22 miles, turn east / right on the Wanless Road for 11.9 miles

Crescent Lake (755 acre lake located by Grand Marais): Accessible fishing pier perfect for Musky, Northern Pike, Walleye and Perch. From Hwy 61 MM 83.2, drive north on the Sawbill Trail for 17 miles, turn west / right on the Wanless Road for 11.9 miles

Sawbill Lake (833 acre lake located near Tofte, MN): Known best for walleye, rock bass, smallmouth bass and northern pike. From Hwy 61 MM 83.2, drive north on the Sawbill Trail for 23 miles.
